Unless the transformer is open/shorted
it would NOT cost much to repair! There
is only a capacitor, rectifier, xfmr,
and regulator inside. Have someone
check it out for you if you don't
feel confortable doing it yourself!

Also, note these things can have a
tendency to hold an electrical charge.
