To get the largest possible RAM drive on the Portfolio, type fdisk 80.
This will give you approximately 80K for RAM storage on the Port and
will leave you about 10-13K of workspace for active files. This is
generally sufficient for all but the largest documents and worksheets.
If you use bigger files, you can always break files up into smaller
chunks or use a smaller fdisk command (64 for example). That way, you
can use your RAM cards for backup purposes and have data redundancy just
in case disaster should strike (like a cold boot or a memory card
battery failure). This will also save you from having to insert the RAM
card every time you use the Port.
I have found that leaving RAM and ROM cards in the Portfolio when not in
use is not a good idea since it drastically shortens battery life in the
Port (as will using external devices like serial and parallel ports
without an AC adapter plugged in).
