QUESTION ABOUT CONTROLING THE OUTPUT OF THE 1030 MODEM...
CAN THE LENGTH OF THE DATA BIT USED IN COMMUNICATING BE
CONTROLED?
I AM TRYING TO CONTACT THE MAINFRAME (IBM 3081) AT CSU WITH
A PROGRAM CALLED VT100. THE MAIN FRAME CONECTION REQUIRES
7 DATA BITS, TWO STOP BITS AT EVEN PARITY. IS THIS POSSIBLE?

PS:BASICALLY I WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN CONTROL THIS FEATURE OF
THE 1030...

        Try booting your modem/computer
without a terminal program on your disk
or with a generic program such as
1030 EXPRESS. While I can't speek for
the mainframe, I had a lot of success
talking to the PDP-11 that way.
If that doesn't work, try a
good manual on Atari RS-232 handlers
and use the data with the 1030's T:
device code. (If that sounds confusing
it's because I am not a modem expert.)

           Thanks for asking.
