From: aa778@cleveland.Freenet.Edu (Fred Horvat) Subject: /P /W switches for DIR and other commands Date: Fri Oct 23 11:41:45 1992 Heres a useful tid bit of info for those who did not know. When doing a directory DIR you can add /P or /W after the the DIR command to get a more usable display of what is in the directory. If you just type in DIR and press enter and who have 20 files in the directory all 20 will whiz on by and you will miss the first 15 or so. If you type in DIR /P and press enter when a screen is full of files (about 6 lines) then the scrolling will stop for you to view the display. To continue with the next screen of info press any key to get the next screen of files. If you use the DIR /W it lists the files in wide mode. Only the file names and extensions are shown. This way you can see more files on the screen at once. You can also use /P /W together to see the directory in wide mode and pause between screens. I prefer to use the /P because you get to see the file size and date it was last updated. The /P option can be used on other commands that display more than a full screen of info such as CHKDSK. -- Fred Horvat aa778 Your Atari Portfolio SYGOP
