My last few posts have generated some questions about Super Products
(their SuperMAX specifically), SuperDOS and Atari in Australia.
I thought I would post the following info to answer everyones questions.
Right now, here is some stuff about Super Products.
Since the mid 80's, Super Products has been producing upgrades for 8 bit
Atari hardware. Originally started by Will Visser (if I remember correctly),
Super Products is now run by James Bradford.
They have the following still available.
Supermon: Replaces the OS with the rev B, no more translator disks for XL
owners. Gives a full and super powerful disassembler always resident.
Includes a four colour screen dump which will even do some redefined
character sets or any mixture of graphic modes. Loads of built in
features such as binary loader (without dos), hex/dec dec/hex conversions,
complete disk access from supermon and other stuff.
SuperRAM: upgrades give you 256K XL's, 304K 800, 320K XE.
SuperMAX: US Doubler like upgrade for 1050's. Does not copy disks.
Super800: allows your 800 to run XL programs. With SuperRAM too, you end up
with XE emulation (without the Antic mode) so you can run AtariWriter Plus
etc. So you end up with the original 800 and the XL OS's and can switch
between them. You also get Supermon with both OS's too.
So thats it. Of these I have SuperMax in my 1050 and it works really well.
I just couldn't live without it now.
I also have a Supermon chip for my XEGS which I have not put in yet.
Oh yes, Supermon also automatiaclly enables the high speed mode on SuperMax
drives.
In the next few months I will probably get a Super800 and SuperRAM for my
800.
Hmmmm, this is getting long so I will tell you about Atari in Australia
later.
