My Request for the FBI's Case Files on Atari

Below is the request that I originally sent to the FBI. With a minimal amount of research, it isn't difficult to craft a successful Freedom of Information Act request. The Federal Open Government Guide offers a great deal of assistance if you are interested in making your own request with the FBI.

Subject:
I request access to and copies of main files and the cross references to the corporation(s) known as Atari, Inc / Atari Corporation / Kee Games / Atari Games / Syzygy Engineering from 1970 to 1990. The searches are to be performed in the FBI Headquarters, and the field offices in Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, and San Francisco.

In more common langauge, I was wanting a search of direct and indirect FBI references (in the HQ and the California field offices) to the various incarnations of Atari (as named above) from 1970 to 1990. FBI interest in one of the major players in the formation of the video game and home computer industry is of great interest from a historical perspective. The results, if of any significant interest, will be directly republished via webpage.

Results in electronic form [are] acceptable if it does not significantly limit or degrade the results. Paper is a secondary choice. I am willing to pay up to $100 for copies without further authorization.

Thank you for your time.
